Add something to read
In the Library, tap Add content to paste a link or text, or open a TXT, Markdown, EPUB, DOCX or text PDF. Scanned PDFs need readable text first; SpeedRead does not perform OCR.
You can also choose SpeedRead in a compatible app’s system share sheet. If the source app does not offer it, copy the link and use Add content, or enable Offer copied links in Settings.
Copied links on iPhone
The Library can detect a probable link without reading the clipboard text. Tapping Read may ask for paste permission. If access was refused, you can retry or change the app’s paste permission in iOS Settings.
Voice and summaries
Listen uses voices available on your phone. Optional natural voices and AI models can be downloaded and removed in Settings. Downloading needs a network connection and available storage. Model availability, supported languages and speed depend on the device. The app explains when it uses a system voice or its built-in summary method.
Keep reading with the screen locked is a native app setting. When enabled, the phone’s system voice can continue in the background. A downloaded natural voice may switch to that system voice while the screen is locked.
Your library and backups
Your saved texts, reading progress and settings live on your device. Use Settings to export a backup before uninstalling the app or moving to another phone. SpeedRead has no account or server to recover a deleted library from.
